One of the highlights of WWDC this year was certainly the Maps introduced by Apple on iOS 6 – which not only looked amazing, but even perform amazing. Ever wondered from where did Apple gather all the mapping and locale data? In a brief statement issued – TomTom said that they “have signed a global agreement with Apple for maps and related information”. As expected Apple said goodbye to Google as it’s source of mapping data, which is where TomTom comes into the picture – thought TomTom may not have as vast and accurate data as Google does, surely with Apple behind them now, it’s not far that their coverage will be very extensive around the world! Interesting times ahead!
