The official Wikipedia app was available on iOS for a long time and Android users were kept waiting, but better late than never as the app is finally available for Android. Although the app seems to be up since last week, it has come in news during the Wikipedia blackout against SOPA, as it was an alternative to users who wanted to go through Wikipedia.

Through this application, users will benefit from fast access to the exhaustive set of articles the encyclopedia includes. The app offers users the possibility to save articles to read later or offline, to search for articles, and even share them courtesy of the share function in Android. Full screen search is also available in the app.

The app is free and hopefully more features will be introduced as has been the case with its iOS counterpart.
