OnePlus One users finally got the much awaited Lollipop software update Oxygen OS which is an in-house custom build variant of Android Lollipop 5.0.2. The build was initially scheduled for March 27 but the team couldn’t manage to meet that deadline primarily because of issues with Google certification.

Oxygen OS is very close to stock Android but there are a number of features that the OnePlus team added in order to enhance the user experience. The new OS feature:-

  • Gesture control ( similar to one in CM 11S)
  • Improved quick settings which lets you reorder settings tiles and choose the ones you want to see.
  • Customisable lockscreen wallpapers
  • The ability to switch between hardware and software navigation keys.

OnePlus is actively working on an easier and more automated solution soon to provide updates over the air, but for now the build must be flashed manually. Probably this will be available only after you flash this update as presently CM is ruling the OTAs not their 11S ROM. As OnePlus is shifting from one OS to another, the phone will have to be wiped clean of all data for the new OS to be installed. The installation procedure is strongly not recommended for users who can’t understand the concept of flashing a phone or boot into recovery. Users can follow the below given guide to flash Oxygen OS onto their devces.
