Apple’s Fifth Avenue flagship store saw some crazy business on the new iPad; 13,000 in 12 hours, around 18 per minutes. The company has now released some ‘record breaking’ launch day sales statistics. Since March 16th, just last friday, Apple has managed to move around 3 million new iPads around the world.

As Phonescoop’s Eic Zeman pointed out, that’s more than RIM’s PlayBook and Motorola’s Xooms sales in a total year, combined. For some comparison, the original iPad took 80 days to sell 3 million. And no solid iPad 2 sales figures can be found. Reuters reported that following weekend and estimated around 1 million units over the first three days.
