MWC: ZTE Orbit Sports NFC in its Specs, Microsoft Mum on its Plans ZTE Orbit ZTE Windows phone Tango NFC MWC

Yesterday ZTE launched its affordable Windows Phone for Chinese markets at the MWC with the “Tango” update, and looking at the specs sheet, we are curious to find out that it has NFC support even though Windows Phone does not yet support this feature.

The Verge asked a Microsoft employee about it, and he confirmed that OEMs can enable the support given the access they have to build native applications, which contrasts with Microsoft strictly controlling its OS.

Microsoft also added that ordinary application developers will not be able to access the APIs required to make use of NFC or any such hardware. We’re not sure if Microsoft will bring NFC support within the Apollo update or as a separate update.
