How to Get Stock Android on any Android Phone (Without Rooting)

If you use an iOS or a MacOS user you get a uniform User Experience all across all devices but that’s not the case with Android OS running smartphones. Android Smartphones have tons of variations with each OEM differently skinning the Android with their custom launcher, icons, color theme, fonts, and overlays. Previously, Google manufactured/certified devices like the Nexus series and some Motorola smartphones offer stock Android or Pure Android user experience.

If you buy Samsung, LG, Huawei, and Xiaomi phones, you’ll see their own customize flavors of Android user interface to set their phones apart from the rest. The Non-Stock Android phones have pre-installed unnecessary apps and features that hinder performance and battery life. If you have a phone that came with the manufacturer custom Android UI skin and you want to experience stock Android UI, there are few ways to get Stock Android UI experience.

So what can you do if you want Stock Android UI? Well, there is a common way to get stock Android UI by rooting your phone and install stock Android based custom ROMs. But rooting is not an option for everyone as it requires advance knowledge about terminal commands in some cases and also it voids the warranty of your phone. And the rooting procedure is not simple and in some cases, the guides are not available for all smartphones and sometimes it breaks the phone if you did something wrong.

There is another way to get stock Android UI experience without rooting your phone. There are tons of first-party Google apps or many third-party apps that you can download and install them on your phone and replace them with the pre-installed apps. It will make your device look and feel like it running on Stock Android UI.

  • Install Stock Android Launchers App

The first thing you need to do is download and install Android launcher. It brings the stock Android look. Mostly all the action is managed through the launcher on the screen. There are many launchers that offer stock Android UI and Google Now is one of the best Android launchers. It’s an official launcher from Google and it also brings Google Now service just a swipe away on the left of the home screen. The same Android launcher you will find the devices that running on the Pure Android User interface. After installing Google Now launcher, set it as the default launcher.

If you want a launcher that offers more customizations and closes to stock Android looks and feels than the Nova launcher is best for you. The Nova Launcher offers more customization, its a faster than the Google Now launcher and also offer nearly stock Android UI.

  • Install Google Keyboard App

The Non-Stack Android Powered phones come with heavily customize that even the keyboard isn’t spared. They come with most third party Keyboard like SwiftKey. But the Pure Android UI running device has Google’s own touch keyboard, called Google Keyboard (G-board). Its a clean and minimal and comes with accuracy and meaningful settings. This is the same keyboard that you will find in Nova launcher and Stock Android UI running devices.

Google Keyboard comes with autocorrect, Android’s Material design and Learn usage patterns and words. It also has a speech-to-text converter feature that powered by Android’s built-in voice command feature. Google also released other keyboards to support more languages, if you are a non-English-speaking user.

  • Install Google Camera App

There are several good camera apps available in the market for Android running devices and Google’s default Camera app is one of the best apps. You can also try this app, even if you don’t want Pure Android UI experience. Google Camera app is for you if you want simple and easy to process of taking pictures. It also delivers the best image possible.

The camera app comes with many features like photosphere, panoramas, and lens blur. It allows you to take photos where the object in focus and background is blurred. It also automatically setting exposure, ISO, shutter speed and others to deliver the best possible pictures.

The Google Camera app is not available in the Play Store. If you really want to install this app, then you have to download Google Camera APK file from APK Mirror. Very important this is, the app is available in two versions, one for 64-bit running devices and 32-bit running devices.

  • Install Google’s Messenger Apps

There are two types of users that use text messenger apps, the first one uses Google Hangouts extensively and those who don’t. Google integrated text messages in Hangouts which allow instant messages and SMSes all come in a single app. This feature makes hangouts the best all-in-one messenger for Android running devices.

If you are not a Hangouts users then the true messenger is the best app for you. If you use this app, you will notice that the app doesn’t look like Google’s stock SMS app.

The Google Messenger app doesn’t have features like Hangouts and True messenger apps. The app comes with Material design and it can block numbers too. The Google Messenger app also allows you to send pictures, videos, audio, emoji and more.

  • Install Material Themes

Most of the Android phones come with the manufacturer’s own themes store. You can easily find some best looking Material Themes for your device. The Material themes designed for those people who want more stock Android UI experience. You can also get wallpapers, navigation bar icons, icons, ringtones and more.

  • Install Icon Packs

If you installed Google Now launcher, it makes your device like it running on pure Android UI but the icons of the apps are same as the previous pre-installed launcher. To make your device more Stock Android look, you need to download and install icon pack. There are several icon packs and Moonshine icon pack is one of the best. The Moonshine icon pack changes installed apps icon and makes the phone more similar to stock Android user interface. If you installed Moonshine icon pack on your device, you will have to install third party launcher like Nova, Apex and others that are available in Play store.

      • Came here to read on how to download and install a pure and custom android, not which apps to install to "feel like you're on pure android". This article is far from what I expected.

  • Thanks for the article but my problem is the Android OS on my phone is crap. I bought the phone because it looked nice and the phone I went to buy was not supported on my Network. After I got it home I found out it was the worst phone in the world. It reboots all the time. It says it has a full charge, you unplug it and the phone reboots. You take a picture, take another and the phone reboots.
