The Vivo V5 features 20MP 1/2.78″ Sony IMX376 sensor with f2.0 aperture stacked in a 5P lens system along with an assisted Moonlight LED flash which tries to create a lighting effect of a professional studio with a soft radiant complexion to every face. The ‘moonlight glow’ LED light does work to brighten the scene and the photos clicked in low light with the LED light look decent to share on social networks, but if you look closer, a little noise is clearly visible. If the selfies don’t turn out to be good you can always fine tune your selfie with the ‘One-tap makeover’ option. Overall the fight for best front facing camera is clearly won by V5 with a great sensor upfront.
This, if you remember, is the very same company who brought the odd, rotating camera in the OPPO N1. Oppo has been focusing on front camera photography for a while now and the F1 and the F1 Plus were above average shooters, the new F1s sees slight improvement over the two. Touted as yet another ‘Selfie Expert’ the Oppo F1s comes with a 16MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 in 1/3.1″ sensor size. The front camera beats its own main camera, which only gets a 13-megapixel sensor of the same size but with a smaller f/2.2 aperture. The camera app features Beautify 4.0 software lets you enhance skin tone while taking selfies.
The Gionee S6s is a successor to S6 Pro and has a lot more in common with it. The biggest highlight of this phone is its selfie or front facing camera. The S6s front selfie camera features an 8MP Sony IMX258 sensor with f2.0 aperture stacked in a 5P lens system. The front camera is assisted by dual front flash (LED and screen flash) that helps in capturing selfies under low light conditions. The selfies captured under ideal conditions with adequate light are just average. The Gionee S6s has the worst selfie camera among the list.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge has a 5 MegaPixel front-facing camera with f/1.7 aperture. With this bright f/1.7 aperture the device excels in low light performance and also gives the S7 the ability to shoot images with extremely shallow depth of field. Comparing the S7 and S7 Edge with the iPhone 6S, both of them have a 5-megapixel front camera but the iPhone 6s has a f/2.2 aperture that allows less light coming into the sensor, thus makes the image blurry and a bit grainy. Also, the S7 Edge has a wider field of view than the one found on the iPhone 6S Plus.
