Motorola today in India launched the most affordable yet powerful smartphone. It was actually a global launch which was running on the same day in different parts of the world. Observing the potential for the low end market in developing countries like India, Brazil and even developed countries like America where 70 percent of population still uses a feature phone. They are eager to move to an advanced smartphone if they get at a pricing that seems right and that’s what Motorola has got it done right.
Moto E weighs about 142 grams and measures 64.8mm/124.8mm/6.2mm-12.3mm in dimensions. The handset features mono speakers in the front and that’s what the bottom silver lining is for. It comes with interchangeable color shells and hard grip shells which can be bought separately from Flipkart itself. The color shells cost 899 while the hard grip shells cost 1099. The design of the smartphone is fairly simple nothing much to elaborate it is as you see in the pictures. The build is solid and spill proof just like Moto G but feels a little thicker than the former.
Motorola Moto E features a 4.3-inch qHD display with 960×540 pixels resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection having a 256ppi pixel density. The display looks sharp when seen in person and is told to have anti-smudge coating with wide viewing angles. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 1.2GHz dual-core processor with A7 CPU and Adreno 302 400MHz GPU paired with 1GB of RAM and 4GB eMMC. It supports expandable memory up to 32GB via an external microSD card and packs a non-removable 1980mAh battery.
It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat mobile operating system and features a 5MP (4:3 aspect ratio) rear snapper though it does not have any front-facing camera. The camera UI is the same we saw on Moto G and features a one-tap capture, Auto HDR, Panorama and Tap to Focus. Spending good 15 mins with the device did not come up with any badmouthing about the device which means it is good to go. The operating system runs smooth and the camera quality whatever we could test in the constraint environment was average.
On the connectivity side it features 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, microUSB, GPS, GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21mbps. It comes with dual SIM standby supporting micro SIM cards on both the slots. It comes with few pre-installed Motorola utility apps like Migrate, Assist, Alert which can add great value if they fit your routine.
Priced at ₹6,999 we can’t expect anything better than this. Motorola has hit a record or maybe we should call it a new low with the aggressive pricing. The handset will be available from fortnight exclusively at Flipkart.com along with three special offers for the a limited time period.
