OnePlus One [First impressions + Gallery]

This year we all saw a lot of smartphone entrants particularly in the low-price segment. The fact that these affordable smartphone are actually good make it arena even more competitive. Most of these cost effective smartphones were from Chinese players who were waiting for the right time to enter Indian market. One such player is Xiaomi and it is doing very well.

On another level, we saw a sudden rise of OnePlus which again belongs to Shenzen, China whose first and only product has led an impact on the global smartphone market. Yes, we are talking about the OnePlus One.

OnePlus One does not belongs to the low-price segment but the price in fact looks affordable for what it offers. The company made its arrival in India on December 2, 2014 launching the OnePlus One exclusively on Amazon.in. The handset has been priced at Rs. 21,999 which we think is very aggressive. To make our point here let’s go through the configuration first.

The OnePlus One sports a 5.5-inch full HD 1080×1920 pixels resolution IPS LCD display. It packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a 2.5GHz quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB non-expandable on-board storage with a 13MP rear snapper and a 5MP front-facing camera. Pretty impressive, right?

We bought the device 2 weeks back fortunately as we had an Indian specific invite. Since then we have been using it as our daily driver and personally talking I am very satisfied with it. The performance is awesome. The smartphone runs so smoothly without any jitters on this hardware matching that of high-end flagships, sometimes even better.

Sandstone black gives a great texture at the back. Moreover, it feels so good. The overall design of the device is very ergonomic to be precise with the words. The edges are slim so it never felt that thick when in use. The front is absolutely clean with capacitive buttons at the button which can be replaced by on-screen keys if we want. In short a very pleasant experience here with the handset.

The CyanogenMod fiasco is taking a hit on its sales in India. According the verdict passed by Delhi High Court, OnePlus has to pause the import of their products unless they accept the exclusivity of CyanogenMod ROM only for Micromax. We are expecting OnePlus to launch its own ROM soon in order to resume its sales and to clear up this mess.
