Xiaomi the leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer had been creating a buzz on their social channels about their arrival in the market. The Chinese brand launched their first smartphone in India along with few more announcements about other upcoming products.
Xiaomi launched in India setting up their headquarters in Bangalore introducing three new smartphones. Launching first, the Xiaomi Mi 3 flagship product of this year with astonishing specifications will go on sale this July 22 for an aggressive pricing of Rs. 13,999. Yes, that left us amaze balls when we learnt about the specifications.
Coming close to this, is Gionee Elife E7 for Rs. 26,000 and then it is Nexus 5 for Rs. 27,999. The Mi 3 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.23GHz paired with 2GB RAM, 16 storage and a 3050mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat based MIUI ROM which has a lot of things to boost about. Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi had an hour and a half dedicated just for a software tour after the launch for the new MIUI which will come preloaded on the Mi3.
Along with this, Xiaomi also announced Redmi 1S and Redmi Note in India for Rs. 6,999 and Rs. 9,999 respectively which look a total value for money kinda deal for what it offers. These two handsets will be launching soon in India after the Mi 3 hit the market.
Unlike Motorola, Xiaomi too has been into a partnership with Flipkart.com to sell their products exclusively via their e-commerce platform.
We spent a few minutes with the device judging its first impressions. Talking about the first look of the Xiaomi Mi 3, we would say it is not much a looker where people would notice and ask which phone it is but I am sure it will satisfy consumers with its performance.
The handset is 8.1mm thin which is exactly that of Samsung Galaxy S5 and weighs 145 grams due its metallic build. It has a 5.0-inch full HD 1080p display panel on the front with absolutely nothing else occupying the space apart from the earpiece and 2MP camera on the front-top. The back is plain with the branding and 13MP rear shooter with dual LED flash. The MIUI as explained have some nifty features which tend to be integrated within the operating system and expected to work well. We shall get more insight and ‘real feel’ results when we test the device in the coming weeks.
We are actually very much excited about Xiaomi’s entry to the Indian sub-continent and we hope they get a good response from the market.
