Airtel launches Karbonn A40 India 4G smartphone for an effective price of ₹1,399 to take on JioPhone

Airtel today has launched a new affordable smartphone in partnership with Karbonn which shall be retailing at an effective price of ₹1,399. Taking on JioPhone, Airtel has partnered with 4G device manufacturers in India for its ‘Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone’ initiative. Being the first from the lot, Karbonn A40 Indian which is retailing in the market for ₹3,499 will be available at an effective price of ₹1,399 eventually. Customers will need to make a down payment of ₹2,899 for smartphone, and then make a minimum amount of recharges over the course of three years to receive cashback totaling ₹1,500. The cash refunds will be made in the form of payments to the user’s Airtel Payments Bank account.

One can own a Karbonn A40 Indian smartphone by making a down-payment for ₹2,899 with no restrictions of lock-in period. The user needs to make specific set of recharges and he will be the sole owner of the handset. Comparing this with JioPhone’s pricing, the 4G feature phone will cost ₹1,500 at the end of three years which clearly states that the handset is in a lock-in period. Also, if one wishes to surrender the handset he/she can do so only after 36 months ie: 3 years. Well, both of them have their own pros and cons so if you are interested for any one of this, make sure to read the terms and conditions carefully.
