Amazon launches Amazon Music HD which offers lossless streaming

Most of the audio lovers out there are seeking for the best quality of audio whenever listening to music. Well, Amazon worked out their way to introduce a lossless streaming service and be the first one among the competitors like Spotify and Apple Music. As Amazon calls it, with Amazon Music HD, users will have access to over 50 million high-resolution tracks at CD quality and only better. Moreover, this also provides a few million songs at UHD quality as well.

Usually, the song quality in the streaming services lie between and up to 320kbps and with the HD quality, we get about up to 850kbps, 44.1kHz/16 bit and with UHD, we get up to 3730kbps, 192kHz/24 bit. Again, the quality of the audio you can stream will depend on the data speed as well as the decoding equipment that you have.

Starting today, Amazon Music HD will be available for iOS, Android, website, and Amazon’s Fire and Echo devices in the US, UK, Germany, and Japan. In the US, this streaming service will cost you about $12.99 per month if you are already an existing Amazon Prime customer, and again, if you are already having the Music Unlimited subscription, you only have to spend another $5 to get this. Apart from that, Amazon is also offering a 90-day free trial for customers who are new to their music streaming service.

These prices compared to the Tidal Hi-Fi streaming service is an absolute killer because you have to spend about $19.99 per month for HD streaming. About the offering, Amazon thinks that even though it has been 40 years since the introduction of digital audio, we do not listen to the tracks the way they were recorded in the studio. Steve Boom, VP of Amazon Music, said that they have worked for a long time talking inputs from both customers and artists about how they want a better, higher-quality listening experience.
