After over 14 million downloads of WordPress 3.2, WordPress 3.3 was released today. The project version is codenamed “Sonny” in honor of the jazz saxophonist Sonny Stitt. WordPress 3.3 is now available for download or update inside your WordPress dashboard (for current wordpress users).
WordPress, which had over 65 million downloads since version 3.0 was released, has a number of new features including UI re-design in some places. The new version includes a revamped welcome screen and improved contextual help UI.
The media uploader has also been improved upon with a drag-and-drop image uploader. A new feature allows users to hover over menus for easier navigation. There is also a new toolbar, improved co-editing notifications (when more than one person working on same post). last but surely not the least, WordPress 3.3 now comes with a Tumblr importer and is optimized for use on the iPad.
