Truecaller launches Caller ID for its iOS app to identify spam calls

Over the last four months, Truecaller the world’s largest verified mobile community has reported that mobile spam is rising up exponentially. Based on the calculations, Truecaller claims that mobile spam has increased up to 250% since December 2013 roughly detecting 4 million spam calls and 75,000 new entries in the database every day.

Protecting the consumers across the globe, Truecaller has an Android app with caller ID feature which queries the database and give details for the number all in real time. After lots of efforts because of the closed mobile os, Truecaller has finally integrated the Caller ID for their iOS application.

Bypassing iOS restrictions is a PIA, an iOS developer would totally get this. The Caller ID checks for the incoming number against the Truecaller’s directory and returns the result in real time using the data connection on the smartphone. If the number is in the database and is marked as spam it will alert the user and if its not he/she can report it at the end of the call. Additionally the app also has a preference option to automatically reject all calls marked as spam. The service also recently debuted in the U.S. with a Series B round led by Sequoia Capital, and a global partnership with Yelp to help Truecaller users ID millions of people and businesses calling their phone.

Truecaller is available for free on the world’s most popular platforms including iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and Symbian. To take part in the growing community, you can download the app today here: http://www.truecaller.com/download
