News : Nikon launches its new flagship DX DSLR D7100 in India , #ThroughTheLens extravaganza

If your an enthusiast like me who craves for that perfectly timed shot Nikon has a treat for you. Even if you’re only having just the basics covered right – without much of a professional background , you can now dare to satisfy your longings.

Nikon announced their new flagship DX DSLR at a price of 79,450INR. For that price lets see how it manages to be a worthy upgrade to its predecessor. The D7100 has a 24.1-megapixel sensor, which is an upgrade from the 16.2-megapixel sensor on the D7000. It now boats an ISO range between 100 and 6400 and it can be extended up to 25,600 in Nikon’s Hi2 extension mode. Nikon adds a 51-point auto focus system with 15-cross type sensors to the D7100. With those extra pixel points Nikon promises to deliver more High Quality and crisp focuses.

 

Walking on the lines of D800,D600 and the D4 – the D7100 now has the Expeed 3 Image Processor. With active D’ Lighting and an all new processor, we did observe the snappy and uncompromising processing come to life.

The Nikon D7100 has been given a specially designed DX-format (APS-C) 24.1-megapixel CMOS sensor (unlike the D5200) which doesn’t use the traditional optical low pass (anti-aliasing) filter found in most cameras. So what does it mean to us ? Nikon says it means this fills up each pixel in the image with clarity while reducing the aliasing and moire artifacting. On the video side, it can shoot full HD 1080p videos at 30 frames per second and 1080i at 60 frames per second.

 

On the Display side we have 3.2 inch LCD on the rear with 1229K dots with 100 percent coverage viewfinder which has been given an OLED display with low power consumption. Nikon has lamented the device with a pair of SD card slots to keep it efficient on memory.

On the outside , Nikon has covered the body in a magnesium alloy construction to keep it sturdy and durable while protecting it from moisture .The D7100 measures 5.3 * 4.2 * 3 inches and weighs 675g for which it includes an 1900mAh battery to keep it juiced up.

 

We personally loved this camera for the upgrade it delivers to its previous version D7000.The D7100 is also sold with a 18-105mm lens kit for Rs 94,950 and a 16-85mm lens kit for Rs 112,950. Nikon #ThroughTheLens event held by them was an event of a kind where they enlightened the audience regarding usability of their new tech-chuncked cameras with band performances and entertainment all packed in a fun filled social gathering. Nikon’s Managing Director Mr. Hiroshi Takashina warmly greeted everyone and Sir Raghu Rai shared his thoughts and experiences and made sure everyone enjoyed the event.
