Everything announced at Apple WWDC 2018

Apple announced the new and updated Apple iOS 12, Watch OS 5, Apple TV 4K and Mac OS Mojave in the Apple WWDC 2018 Event held at San Jose Convention Center, San Jose. The developer’s beta versions of Apple iOS 12 and Mac OS Mojave are out but the stable version will come at the end of July.

Apple iOS 12: Focused on faster and improved environment

The new iOS 12 offers several upgradation and new features to the users. It can open the camera 70% faster, apps 40% faster and keyboard 50% faster. The Message app now supports four new Animoji’s and Tongue Recognition. The new Memoji in iOS 12 offers to create Animoji of your face and can be used anywhere. Facetime now supports group call and can connect up to 32 participants simultaneously. Users can start the group calls from the message app too.

The new AR Kit and Measure App make the AR helpful and creative. Users can capture an AR image and can use it as wherever they want. The Measure app helps to detect and measure the objects from the camera. iOS 12 also features a new Photo App that offers search bar and other tabs like Memories, For You and Shared Album. The photos from the new Photo App can be shared directly with the person who is in that image. Siri finally supports customized shortcuts and one phrase suggestions. The shortcut app comes linked with the Siri and offers preloaded shortcuts.

iOS 12 offers Screen Time and Usage section which allow us to focus by providing weekly activity report and notifications. Users can also set app limits and allowances for better usage. It also offers content and privacy setting which is helpful for parenting. The new Do Not Disturb mode here offers to customize the notifications. It also offers group notification curated by names, topic or groups. You can view or swipe them once at all.

iOS 12 also got new and redesigned apps like News, Stock, Voice Memo and Apple Books. With News and Stock apps offers to customize feed and interactive charts. We can handpick the news and charts we want. The Apple Books is the upgraded version of iBooks with audiobook supports and offers different tabs like reading, library, and search.

iOS 12 will be available for all iPhones starting iPhone 5s and later, all iPad Pro and iPad Air variants, iPad 5th generation, iPad mini 2 and later and iPod touch 6th generation this fall. The iOS 12 beta 1 for developers (16A5288q) is already available and the open beta will be available later this month.

Apple Watch OS 5 and Apple TV 4K

Apple Watch OS 5 now supports several types of activity including Hiking and yoga. The activity app offers challenge competition where you can challenge others and get awards for winning. It also offers pace alerts, automatic workout alerts, retroactive credit and end alerts. With the new Watch OS 5, you can also use your watch as a Walkie-Talkie and share small voice notes. Users will also get new Siri shortcuts and Watch Face update on the watch. The watch faces are also interactive so the web content on message and emails can be browsed on the watch itself. Apart from all-time favorite Music app, now it supports podcast too.

Apple TV 4K with the new TV OS supports 4K HDR content. It comes with new Dolby ATMOS audio technology along with Dolby Vision to provide 3D sound effects. It offers new Arena View on the Apple TV and supports 100+ Live Channels. The TV can be navigated by the Apple TV Remote on iPad and iPhone.

Apple Mac OS Mojave: Power Packed Performance

The Apple Mac OS Mojave brings new features with powerful performance. It offers Dark Mode to the users, a new Desktop Stack to manage file, Finder feature with gallery view for different files and a Dynamic Desktop feature which shifts the desktop image with time. The learning automatic actions are great and it can be assigned according to our usage.

The Quick Look feature allow to markup the file and edit them on same window. While the screenshots feature offers to a thumbnail on capturing a screenshot and from them, you can directly jump to the quick look tab and edit it. It also supports screen capture for videos and several others screenshots tools. The Continuity Camera feature helps to capture the images from the iPhone or iPad and then edit them on Mac.

The Mac OS Mojave gets new apps like News, Stocks, Voice Memos and Home App. The features are similar to the iOS with few extra modes like Customized sidebar and channels. The Home App allows controlling the house with ease. It also comes with the redesigned and updated App Store. On the Security and Privacy section, it offers simplifies system configuration, enhanced tracking prevention, automatic strong passwords along with cookie protection which helps to remain protected.
