Powered by Google Assistant, both the smart speakers wake up to hotword ‘Ok Google’ or ‘Hey Google’ and both of them can be setup using Google Home app. The Google Home features a touch surface on top, which can be used to control playback, volume, and also activate the Google Assistant. It comes with a speaker featuring a 2-inch driver and dual 2-inch passive radiators on the sides. The Google Home connects using a dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and can only be used as a Wi-Fi connected speaker with no Bluetooth capabilities. While the Google Home Mini is only available with a fabric-based design and non-skid silicone base. The mini is touted to deliver 360-degree sound and bears a 40mm driver, whilst it mic supports far-field voice recognition.
The Google Home takes on the Amazon Echo priced at INR 9,999 and will be available in White color variant only. On the other hand, Google Home Mini gives competition to the Amazon Echo Dot priced at INR 4,499 and will be available in Chalk and Charcoal colors. The Google Home and Google Home Mini will be available for purchase online, exclusively on Flipkart, and in over 750 retail stores across the country including Reliance Digital, Croma, Bajaj Electronics, Vijay Sales, Sangeetha, and Poorvika.
