Bullett proof Huawei P8 Lite saves owner’s life by taking bullet

We’ve all heard stories of lucky hip flasks, cigarette cases, and bibles being in the right place at the right time, and fortunately saving their owner’s life by deflecting a bullet. Well, Phones have been selflessly stopping flying bullets for years, and we have the evidence to prove it. We’ve all seen the memes about the Nokia 3310’s legendary toughness but Nokia is history now. Now, here’s a piece of news from Huawei where a smartphone has saved the life of its owner.

A Huawei P8 Lite smartphone has saved the life of its owner, who was shot in the chest by armed muggers, by taking a bullet for him. Siraaj Abrahams, a 41-year old South African was returning home after a birthday party from his friend’s house in August. Just outside the gate of his house, he was robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot and shot from a distance of about 2 meters. He lost consciousness after the bullet hit him and after he woke up, all he had was a small mark on his chest and a hole on his jacket. The smartphone doesn’t have a metal body, but it would seem that its plastic build was enough to stop a bullet from a 2-meter distance. The smartphone is not functional anymore but Huawei presented Abraham with a brand new Huawei P9 Lite to replace his damaged phone. Apart from providing a new smartphone, the Marketing Director for Huawei’s Sub-Saharan Africa region offered a free VIP entry to Siraaj for all the home matches of the Ajax Cape Town soccer team which is also sponsored by the company.

This is not the first time that a Huawei device has saved a man’s life. During the general elections in Kenya, a man named Millward Brown was almost hit by a stray bullet that his Huawei Mediapad managed to dodge. The Mediapad was stored in his back pocket and stopped the bullet before it could harm him. So what materials does Huawei use to make its smartphones, is it made of Captain America’s shield, or Ironman’s suit, whatever it is, it shows Huawei’s Commitment To Refined Quality.

Huawei being the largest smartphone brand in its home country China is also the third-largest brand in the global market. Apart from expanding to western markets, Huawei is also betting big in Africa. It was the third largest smartphone brand next to Samsung and Apple in Africa in 2015. The recently launched Huawei P9 and P9 Lite smartphones are a hit and we are keeping an eye on the Honor 8 in the coming month.
