Lenovo has launched its Zuk Z1 smartphone in India in a crowd-sourced launch. This is the same device that was launched a year ago by the company’s sub-brand ZUK (pronounced ‘zee you kay’) as ZUK Z1 in China and selected international markets. While in China, the device runs on in-house ZUI while the international variants run on Cyanogen OS. The key highlight of the mid-range smartphone is that it runs Cyanogen OS 12.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The handset sports a premium aircraft-grade aluminium frame, which measures 8.9mm around the waist which is quite impressive even when the device packs a massive 4,100mAh battery. Zuk Z1 also comes with USB Type-C slot for charging and data transfer and it does not have micro-SD slot for expansion.
The Lenovo Zuk Z1 comes in dark grey color and is priced at INR 13,499 in India. It will be exclusively available from Amazon through flash sale starting from May 19th. Registration for the sale begins 1PM today.
Though the Snapdragon 801 looks a bit outdated but at its price point, the ZUK Z1 will be taking on the likes of OnePlus X which is priced little higher, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 1s which are priced a bit lower.
