News: AMD Reports Net Loss in Q4 Results

AMD does not seem to be having a good time lately, as it has announced its results for the fourth quarter of 2011. The weak sales have resulted in a net loss of $177 million on revenue of $1.69 billion.

Regarding the outlook, AMD said it “expects revenue to decrease eight percent, plus or minus three percent, sequentially for the first quarter of 2012.” So even the start of a fresh year does not look good for the company. For 2011, AMD reported earnings of $491 million, or 66 cents a share, on revenue of $6.57 billion.

But not all is bad with the company, as the AMD CEO Rory Read touted the company’s 30 million accelerated processor unit shipments and also said AMD is working to be a company that “consistently delivers on its commitments.”
