News: Film SLR inspired Olympus OM-D E-M5 made official

Olympus officially confirmed the coming up of the OM-D E-M5, which has to be the most leaked camera in recent memory. The first camera in the OM-D line goes back to OM-series film SLRs sold first in the ’70s. The all new pentraprism bump now comes along with a 1.44-megapixel electronic viewfinderm and two programmable dials that provide a mannual control.

The body measures 4.8 inches width and 1.8 inches deep which is not too big, and leaves no room for built-in flash, to counter  this issue the EM-5 comes with a small accessory unit that slots into the how shoe. This camera will be available in colors black  or the classic chrome finish.

Moving on from the outer body, the inside comes packed with a new Micro Four Thirds 16.1-megapixel sensor with 5-axis image stabilization, support for 1080p video and an ISO range of 200-25,66. It also features a new auto focus system in particular which is said to be even better  than the EP-3. The camera will have a support for a battery grip, which relocates control dials and the shutter release to shoot in portrait  orientation, which will make it the first Micro Four Thirds camera from Olympus to have a battery grip. To top it all is its dust and splash proof magnesium alloy design. The E-M5 will come out in carrying prices, the body-only is to be priced at $999.99, along with kit lens has two options, a $1,099.99 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ll R set, and a $1,299.99 kit with a weather-sealed 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ lens. This camera will be out in the market in April this year.

Olympus is also announcing several new accessories including the HLD-6 Power Battery Grip (mentioned above), the FL-600R electronic flash, and also  the MMF-3 mount adapter, which will allow you to use the Four Thirds lenses with the E-M5. This year looks forward a few more lenses by Olympus: The M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f1.8 lens and the 60mm f2.8 macro.
