Sony is set to make some clearcut statements on its plans to bring Google TV to Europe. According to financial paper, Les Echos, Sony France’s marketing director has said that two devices, a set-top box priced at roughly $255 and a Blu-ray player set at $399 will launch in France come September.
The paper also reports that it could launch across the UK, Spain and Germany at the same time. Sony’s Stephane Labrousse added that remotes for the new devices will include a dedicated Google Play Button to gain access to the Android progenitor’s apps and media content. The Japanese giant’s own Music Unlimited service will also be integrated inside. There no certainty as to whether these are the older Intel-based models or the new, perhaps cheaper, ARM range set to ship later this year. However, news will slowly trickle down regarding future plans for Sony with its Smart TV intentions.
