The Nikon D800 has been officially released in Japan today, with pre-orders shipping around the country and retailers praising the full-frame camera’s arrival.
However, there may problems for those wanting one. Major retainers Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera and Camera no Kitamura are all out of stock and have no projected date for new shipments. Bic and Yodobashi both price the body at around $3,575, while Kitamura has quoted it at $3,217. The price difference is substantial, but the former two retailers both run 10% loyalty point schemes for cardholders, so regular shoppers with upfront cash probably wouldn’t mind.
With the supplies being so low, it’s only obvious that most photographers will snap it up from the first seller who can offer it. US shipment dates haven’t been announced yet, but it most likelihood, it wont be any easier to find.
