Proving the rumors true, Pentax has officially announced the K-01, a mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. The body of this camera has been designed by a London based industrial designer-Marc Newson. This camera has a number of exquisite features, which includes a 16 megapixel APS C sized CMOS sensor, 1080p video capture, compatibility with other existing lenses of Pentax K-mount lenses, and an ISO range from 100 to 25600. The body only of the Pentax K-01 is priced at $749.95, which is much cheaper than Sony’s NEX-7 and slightly more than the price of Lumix GX-1.
Along with the body, Pentax is also launching a new lens, the Pentax- DA 40mm F/.8 XS. This has been given the title of the thinnest interchangeable lens in the world by the company itself. Thin lenses seem like a great option as they reduce the weight and bulkiness of the camera giving a great quality lens. Pentax also has a few previously launched thin lenses like the 70mm F/2.4 and the 21mm F/3.2.
The K-01 will be available in black, white, or yellow and is scheduled to be available in the market in March at a price of $749.95
without lens or $899.95 with the 40mm lens.
