News: Thai Floods Cause ‘Extraordinary Losses” to Nikon in Q3 ’11

Nikon just reported its figures for the third quater of the 2011 fiscal year, and the results are very common to almost all Japanese tech companies. The Thai floods caused a lot of setback to the companies, and, as an impact, it suffered a one-time loss of $143.1 million! Nikon has major factories in the country which were hit by the flood along with Sony who also suffered a similar setback due to the natural disaster. On top of the loses, the floods also caused a delay in the announcement of the release of the elusive D800 DSLR.

Nikon is further down by $157.52 million brining the net loss to $48.57 million. However, at the end of March 2012, the company expects some profits, hoping for an increase in income compared to last year when it made $358.5 million.
