Tami Reller, the head of marketing and CFO of the Windows and Windows Live Division at Microsoft, let slip the release schedule of Windows 8 when talking to a Nomura Securities analyst.
The analyst said that the next release will be the Windows 8 Release Candidate (RC), which will come out in June, followed by the RTM (Release to Manufacturers) in August, and finally the General Availability release to the public in October.
The analyst also mentioned that Windows 8 will not have a Start button, but it will have tutorials for keyboard and mouse users, to make themselves familiar with the Metro UI. Microsoft is confident in its direction, as Windows 8 is designed for touch interfaces, and that’s where the primary growth is going to occur.
