Last year, at the IFA 2018 held in Berlin, nubia teased claiming the nubia-a to be the world’s highly advanced wearable smartphone that too with an OLED screen and as they promised, the Alpha was unveiled at the MWC. According to the company, it’s the world’s first smartphone wearable that comes with S flexible, wraparound display plus a 4.01-inch flexible OLED Visionox display that is 230% more larger than the standard wearable screens.
The wrap around screen comes witan an aspect ratio that’s panoramic so you get a more immersed and brilliant experience. The display is made by 11 layers ensuring durability and vibrant view. The body is water-resistant and the display is flexible yet, strong as its coated by a heat-resistant Polyimide.
The wearable runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform and supports 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard memory plus eSIM 4G support. You also get native voice calling and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi so you can easily make calls on connecting your phone to Bluetooth. To attend calls you can use the in-built microphone or use your Bluetooth headset and receive calls.
The wearable comes with a 5-megapixel camera that can take 82-degree thanks to the wide-angle lens with an aperture of f/2.2. The shortcuts are UI clever, means if you want to take a picture just tap the screen and long press to record your video.
It also has health and exercise assistance, plus running and sleep tracking, music playback included. The heart sensor is fitted in the back and runs on a 500mAh battery that gives you 1-2 days of battery charge on regular usage. The Stainless Steel body comes in Black and Gold and the Gold variants band is plated in 18k gold.
The nubia-a Black and Gold is available for 499 Euros (approx Rs. 36,210) while, the standard version is available for 549 Euros (approx Rs. 44,275). The 4G eSIM version and the 4G eSIM Gold versions are available for Rs. 649 Euros (approx 52,340). It will be available for sale by April in the Chinese market and the next market will be Europe. Expectations are for the wearable to reach North America by Q4 in 2019.
