Microsoft’s online storage solution is a popular alternative to Google Drive and more expensive solutions like Dropbox. The application is regularly updated with new features or interface improvements to enhance the user experience. The latest version has a new, more user-friendly home page and supports playback of 8K video and Samsung Motion photos.
The new home screen has a “Memories” section at the top of the screen that displays a gallery of photos taken “that day.” Below are lists of recently used and offline files, so you can easily access the documents that you are likely to be working on.
If you have an OneDrive account for work or school, you won’t see the “Reminders” section at the top of the screen, but you will see general libraries, which makes sense since you probably don’t keep personal photos in your work account. The file browser, also known as the main view, is always accessible from the Files tab at the bottom of the screen.
In addition to the new home screen, OneDrive can now play 8K videos and Samsung Motion photos directly in the application. This means you don’t have to download the files locally to play them in their full resolution.
Moreover, if you want to share Samsung Motion photos with others, the web version of the application can now play them, so even people who don’t have Samsung phones can easily view the photos. This only works with personal accounts, so you cannot view Motion photos with an account at work or school.
