Opera introduces its new browser with built-in Crypto Wallet

Opera announced that Opera Android is getting a beta update which a has built-in Crypto Wallet. The new browser will also support Ethereum Web3 API. This new update will allow the users to send or receive cryptocurrency in the Opera app itself, so need to use any other platform, web browser or a separate extension for those transactions.

Charles Hamel, Product Lead of Opera Crypto said:

Having a Crypto Wallet in the browser brings the cash experience to the world of online payments. Paying with the Crypto Wallet is like sending digital cash straight from your phone, and we’ve just made it easier. This opens up new possibilities for merchants and content creators alike.

We believe the web of today will be the interface to the decentralized web of tomorrow,” said Hamel. “By becoming the the first major browser to open up to Web 3.0, we would like to contribute to making the internet of the future more accessible. Our hope is that this will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for actual payments and transactions in our users’ daily lives.

Opera has integrated the crypto wallet option with a WebView on top. So it’ll be simple to use and easy to access just like the other offerings of the browser. The security function is taken into account by Opera and they’ll use Android’s secure system lock to sign transactions from the Crypto Wallet. Apart from it, Opera App also supports tokens and digital collectibles shown on the browser.

Right now the app is private beta, so only those few users who are invited by the company will get that update. We’re not sure when they’ll release it for the public, but if we get any clue we’ll let you know.
