Sony announces 3 new installation projectors.

Sony today unveiled 3 new high-end installation projection systems , the new VPL-CX275, VPL-CW275 models and VPL-FH36 models. All these 3 new devices come with distinctive features such as BrightEra™ 3LCD Inorganic Panel technology, energy efficient features, installation flexibility and a low total cost of ownership.

Sony says these new projectors carry an improved picture quality, substantially brighter and natural colour images.

The new VPL-CX275 and VPL-CW275 models extend Sony’s existing VPL-CX235/CW255 installation projectors line-up. The VPL-CW275 is capable of light output levels of up to 5,100 lm (on high lamp mode), making it one of the brightest WXGA (1280×800) models in its class – which typically sees levels in the 4,000 lm range.

The VPL-CX275 features XGA (1024×768) display resolution with brightness levels of up to 5,200 lm (on high lamp mode). Both new models were designed to offer better colour light output and colour reproduction, and are equipped with 1.5x (approx.) zoom lens, Gamma Mode – a setting extremely suitable for projecting coloured images in bright environments, and a built-in 10W speaker.

The new models both feature contrast ratios of 3,000:1, and variety of inputs/outputs such as RGB video and audio, HDMI, RJ45 or RS232C connectors, and LAN connectivity.

New operating modes include :  “ECO MODE” key on the projectors or remote, the projectors can be operated with a customisable combination of energy efficiency settings including an auto lamp dimming function, which can reduce lamp power consumption by approximately 15%, and a “Power Saving Mode” automatic switch-off after a set time period.

The high resolution WUXGA (1920×1200) projectors have Full HD compatibility with manual zoom of approximately 1.6x that allows for high magnification of up to 40” to 600” screen size. The VPL-FH36 has a light output of 5,200 lm (in high lamp mode). 12-bit 3D Gamma Correction circuitry lets the projectors perform better gamma correction, achieving smoother gradations and richer grey-scale.

With typical usage, the filters on the projector have an approximate 15,000-hours cleaning cycle.

The projectors are priced as follows:
