Western Digital announced the high performance WD Red line of SATA hard drives

These red hard drives are available in two options, one with a form factor of 2.5-inch with 1 TB capacity and the other with 3.5-inch 4 TB capacity. These hard drives are powered by NASware™ 2.0 technology and so they have high efficiency and are built for high performance. These also require less power, in-turn having less power consumption.

These affordable, reliable and compatible hard drives are specifically built for small NAS environment. The 2.5-inch form factor offering 1 TB capacity is specifically built for small NAS.
