Microsoft unveils the Nokia X2 with bigger display and a home button

Microsoft Devices today unveiled the successor to its Android-centred Nokia X handsets – Nokia X2 . The new Nokia X2 is a major upgrade over its predecessor in terms of screen size, RAM capacity, CPU speed and camera specifications. It has a 4.3-inch WVGA screen, powered by a 1.2 dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Nokia X software platform 2.0 based on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

Another change we see in the new phone is the inclusion of home button that takes you back to the start screen and is accompanied by the back button that allows flipping through most recent actions, and long pressing shows what apps are open. Nokia X2 is also equipped with another navigation option; the brand-new ‘apps list’, which keeps your home screen clear for your most used apps, bringing Nokia X2 in line with the existing Lumia experience.

The smartphone has updated OS (X Platform 2.0) which allows users to download Android apps onto the Nokia X2, but Google Play isn’t available so you’ll have to use a third party store. Some of Microsoft’s apps also make it onto the X2 including OneDrive, Outlook and some Xbox Games.
