Android version marketshare recently annouced their latest numbers and figures, while Ice Cream Sandwich was noted making some very minor gains, it was overtaken by Gingerbread and Froyo by a good margin.
Through the sources at Google’s Android Developers site, in the last two weeks of January, Ice Cream Sandwich was present on one percent of all devices that accessed the Android Market during that time. That is more than the 0.6 percent that was recorded end of december but doesn’t really symbolize a rise in Galaxy Nexus sales. The Ice Cream Sandwich’s gains seem to be coming from updates from both Motorola Xoom and Transformer Prime, which moved up to 4.0.3 last month, giving it a 0.7 percent share, though operating systems 4.0 through 4.0.2 contributed to just 0.3 percent of all active users.
An increase in numbers were noted in comparison to previous versions of Android, Gingerbread version 2.3 accounted for 58.6 percent, though Froyo version 2.2 accounted for 27.8 percent of devices. The increase in number’s isn’t all that surprising, but we hope the updates and releases of Ice Cream Sandwich devices happen soon.
