We have good news for all those Android developers who like to cook up new ROMs and the Android modding community as a whole as Google has released the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean source code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Google has also released proprietary binaries for the Nexus 7 and the Galaxy Nexus, including the Verizon Galaxy Nexus while the binaries for the XOOM and Nexus S (GSM and CDMA) are coming soon.
The release is being label as Android-4.1.1_r1 in AOSP and we hope to see the factory images of the above mentioned devices soon.
The release of the source code means we’ll get to see jelly Bean custom ROMs soon and quick with expectations that CyanogenMod will be the first to get a build on display soon since they already announced that its team of developers will start work on a Jelly Bean Rom as soon as the source code is fully downloaded.Stable ROMs are still a bit far away but its exciting times ahead for us Android geeks.
