News: Dual-Screen Android phone makes its debut at CES 2013.

Yotaphone, a dual-screen Android smartphone that had been occupying the rumor air finally got its audience at CES 2013. Over the past few months we have seen smartphones evolve massively, the obvious questions was what next? How much more can we crank out of the form factor of an Android phone. Well to answer it we had Yotaphone, the world’s first Android phone with a fully functional dual display, with an E-ink display on the back. The main objective was to mirror various applications that require crisp , clear text to be displayed for reading and browsing purposes. The company however says its applications would be soon extended.

The back display is steady enough to disguise as a normal back until the E-ink display is activated . The E-ink display specializes in displaying non graphical intensive material(because it can produce limited greylevels) like a boarding pass, a map, an e-book etc. The phone is 9mm thick although its quite loaded. It has a nice 4.3-inch 720p HD LCD screen on the front and a 4.3-inch, 200dpi e-ink screen on the back. Performance is snappy with the 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 dual-core processor. There’s 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and the device’s two cameras are 12MP and 2MP. The phone however is expected to ship with various carriers by the end of 2013.
