News: LG Unveils Optimus Vu

Well the Galaxy Note is getting some competition, as LG has unveiled its version of a phone/tablet hybrid. The Optimus Vu, which has leaked before and was teased earlier this month by LG, was expected to be unveiled at the MWC, but it seems LG couldn’t wait any longer.

The phone features a 5-inch 1024 x 768 IPS display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, an 8-megapixel camera, LTE support, and has a more than adequate 32GB of internal memory on-board. All these at a an 8.5mm-thin package. It comes with a stylus taking cue with the Galaxy Note. It also features a  a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. WiFi Direct, HDMI output, DLNA and – in South Korea at least – T-DMB digital TV are all supported.

The phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch, but LG is promising an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade within three months. The Optimus Vu will be available on South Korean carriers LG+ and SK Telecom in early March, but there are no details on the pricing yet.
