With the Kindle Fire gaining a lot of marketshare and making Amazon proud with its sales figures, their main competitor, Barnes & Noble, decided to fight back.
The 8GB Nook Colour will cost U$199, same as the Kindle Fire, but unlike the Kindle, it will have a microSD slot to compensate for the smaller memory. The Nook Colour will still be available in its 16GB version for U$249 and users will be able to free up some space on the 16GB model by taking it to a Barnes & Noble store on or after March 12. The 8GB Nook Colour looks like a viable option for the budget conscious, where you can easily hack it to run stock Android, the microSD slot helps a lot too.
