We brought you news of leaked Samsung qwerty candybar smartphone a couple of days ago and now Samsung has gone on to officially announce the smartphone as Samsung Galaxy Chat. The device is an entry level Android 4.0 smartphone packing a qwerty keyboard in a candybar design for people who still wish to type on hardware keyboards rather than on virtual touch ones.
The Samsung Galaxy Chat has a 3-inch display with a very poor QVGA resolution. It has a full QWERTY keyboard and is powered by 850MHz processor running the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz on top. The camera on its back is of 2 megapixels and has no flash.It weighs 112g and is just 11.7mm thick and comes with a modest 1200 mAh battery.
It has 4GB internal memory that is expandable up to 32GB with microSD. The connectivity features include the usual Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 WiFi 802.11 b/g/n. It has 3.5mm Ear Jack, FM Radio with RDS, AllShare Play to share media, Game Hub to download games, S Planner app to manage your schedule and Quick Office application to view Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files.
Samsung’s ChatON messaging app is pre-loaded with the device having a dedicated key to access it.
There are no details on the pricing right now but we can surely expect a very attractive price. The device is expected to be available at the end of this month starting with Spain followed by other countries in Europe, Latin America, Middle East, China, Southeast Asia, and Southwest Asia.
