We all know that Samsung has had an awesome year and mostly thanks to its Android line-up. Samsung has now reported the numbers of sales in Q4 of last year and it has had a record fourth quarter tripling its phone sales from the last year.
Reportedly Samsung has shipped 27.8 million smartphones thus making it the top smartphone supplier over Apple while doubling its market share. For all of 2011, Samsung sold more than 300 million handsets, including some featurephones. But the main reason for the huge succes of the Korean manufacturer was the flagship Samsung Galaxy S II which launched in May and sold 10 million units faster than any other Samsung mobile device. Samsung has some high hopes for the Samsung GALAXY Note which is a 5.3 inch combination of a smartphone and a tablet which has done well after being launched overseas. The device is expected to be offered in the U.S. with an LTE model being prepared for AT&T and would be most probably shown off at CES.
2012 looks to be a big year for Samsung’s smartphones. The company could sell as many as 170 million smartphones in 2012 according to BNP Paribas and Korea Investment & Securities, up from an estimated 95 million shipped last year. All the hopes rest on much awaited Samsung Galaxy S III which will be unveiled at MWC. What are your expectations from Galaxy S III ?
