News: Samsung unveils entry-level, low-end Galaxy Pocket

Samsung has been announcing a lot of mid-range and low-end phones lately and now there’s a latest addition, its the Galaxy Pocket, an entry-level, low-end budget Android handset in a pocketable size.

The Galaxy Pocket comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA display of 240 x 320 powered by an 832 MHz processor with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on-board and Samsung’s TouchWiz overlay on top of it and the device will come with 3GB of user memory expandable via microSD. It features a 2 MP fixed focus rear camera with no flash and there’s no front facing camera. It also features the usual set of connectivity options, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n.

The tiny handset will come integrated with  Samsung’s ChatON cross-platform communication service that connects all phone users into a single community, enabling spontaneous messaging, group chatting and content sharing. It also comes with Social Hub that enables owners to see their Instant Messaging, social network and e-mail communications in a single inbox.

The handset will be available in the UK later this year but there are no details regarding exact regions, availability date and pricing. It seems very similar to the Galaxy Y but for the slightly smaller screen and the 3 GB storage onboard and we are quite sure it’ll be similarly priced or maybe even lower.  We’ll surely get back to you as we know more.
