OPPO India has finally announced the launch of OPPO R5 which is one of the thinnest phones in the world at a price of INR 29,990. The Oppo R5 was the thinnest smartphone in the world measuring 4.85mm beating Gionee Elife S5.1 until the launch of Vivo’s X5MAX which is 4.75mm thick. The cons of being so thin is that it can’t even have a 3.5mm jack for audio playback, so the users have to rely on Bluetooth headsets or connect via an adapter.
Oppo R5 is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa core 64bit processor, Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB RAM, the smartphone sports a 5.2-inch full-HD AMOLED display. It comes with 16GB internal storage but microSD card slot is missing. The R5 also supports the VOOC rapid charging technology as the N3, which claims to charge the phone from zero to 75% in just thirty minutes. The smartphone features PI 2.0 Plus Flash Shot technology which reduces the focus time to 0.8 seconds and delivers a 50MP picture quality.
R5 is the world’s first smartphone with phase-change material that maintains constant temperature of the device even when device is running on maximum performance.
The smartphone will be available for pre-booking starting January 1, 2015.
