An interesting new feature to Apple’s new Messages app is the ability to drag and drop transfer files. The new app allows users to add files to iMessages, which can be sent to an iOS device or Messages. Along with this, MP3 and video files can also be played and text and PDF documents can be read or opened in other apps. All by tapping the Action button.
Transfers aren’t as smooth, with text files freezing up at times and a file limit being there too. Incompatible file types are symbolized with a question mark icon on iOS devices and cannot be acted on. Another downside is that transfers don’t appear to work the other way around. For example, So theres no easy way to send a PDF from an iOS device within iMessage. We might see an update to the service with the arrival of the Golden Master of iOS 5.1 in the next couple of weeks.
