News: Nokia executive VP of sales leaving

Nokia today announced that Colin Giles, executive vice president of sales, who was also part of the Leadership Team, is leaving the company on June 30, after 20 years there.

The reasons for him leaving is unclear, but he’s said to want to spend some time closer to his family. Nokia will reduce the ‘layers of sales management’ leaving Giles’ position void.

“Colin’s leadership has been very valuable as we shifted Nokia’s strategy and aligned the sales organization around our new product families, Lumia and Asha,” said Stephen Elop, president and CEO. “We appreciate the commitment that Colin has demonstrated to Nokia over the years, and we wish him much success as he takes the next step in his career.”

His timing seems to be perfectly aligned with today’s disappointing financial results and lowered sales, which may also have played a role in his decision to leave the Finnish giant.
