We are expecting a Samsung Quad-Core tablet at the MWC, and a recent preview of a Quad-Core Exynos chipset at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference, a chip conference happening in San Francisco, gives us all the details on what would be running under the hood in the upcoming Samsung Tablets.
Samsung showed off its latest Exynos chipset, a Quad-Core one at the conference for tablets and smartphones. It might well turn out to be featured in the oft rumored Galaxy S III. “The processor has four Arm Cortex-A9 cores running at 200MHz to 1.5GHz, quad-core ARM Mali graphics, a 64-bit NEON media engine, and a dual-channel controller that supports LP-DDR2, DDR2 and DDR3 memory.”
The Exynos 4 employs features such as multiple power domains, dynamic voltage, and frequency scaling for better battery life, unlike Nvidia’s Tegra 3 quad-core processor (or ARM’s big.Little architecture), which accompanies an additional fifth core for power management.
We can expect Samsung to employ the chipset in a tablet and probably show off at the MWC, and we’ll bring you more news and details at MWC, so stay tuned.
