Samsung took everyone by surprise when it unveiled it’s Windows 8 phone Ativ S. After this announcement, Samsung has become  the first manufacturer to officially announce a Windows 8 phone. From the top Ativ S looks like any other standard Samsung smartphone.

But its packs a punch inside.

Inside the 8.7mm brushed aluminum chassis it has a 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display made from Corning Gorilla Glass 2.Inside it is a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of onboard RAM, and an 8MP autofocus rear camera and 1.9MP front-facing camera. There’s choice of two storage capacities – 16GB or 32GB – and both models have a MicroSD slot for expanded storage which was not available in previous Windows phones.

Till now Nokia was being considered as the leader in Windows phones. Will it change after Samsung’s announcement?

Now whats left to see is what Nokia has in store on September 5.
