Microsoft brought the WiFi hotspot capability to Windows Phone only with the “Mango” update but strangely Nokia’s first two Windows Phones the Lumia 800 and 710 did not feature the capability and now even more strangely their budget friendly Lumia 610 features the WiFi capability and is even getting advertised by Nokia.
At the official Lumia 610 page on Nokia’s site, one of the highlight feature on the page says “use as a WiFi Hotspot for up to 5 WiFi-enabled devices”. While it is good news for anyone thinking of buying the Lumia 610 but it is strange that Nokia’s other Windows Phones which are more superior to the Lumia 610 do not feature the functionality, it seems there must have been some issue with the chipsets or radios and maybe we could see them bringing an update to the Lumia 800 and 610 to bring the WiFi hotspot capability.
