Redmi Note 3 ft. Snapdragon 650 CPU launched in India for ₹9999

After announcing the Redmi Note 3 in China, we knew that Xiaomi would be bringing this to India. After all, it has been a while since they launched anything new here in Southeast Asia. But today Xiaomi finally brought the Redmi Note 3 in India.

Redmi Note 3 is the fruitful successor to Redmi Note 4G in the budget phablet lineup. The updated smartphone comes with a full metal build having curved edges along with an obvious fingerprint sensor (this was long due, no?). The variant coming to India sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 with a 64-bit 1.8GHz hexa-core CPU, Adreno 510 GPU, integrated X8 LTE with Cat 7 speeds, supporting VoLTE. Other specs include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB RAM on the 16GB model and 3GB on the 32GB model, powered by a 4,050mAh battery. The smartphone will be running MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop and features VoLTE. The device come with Sunlight Display and Reading Mode features.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Spec Sheet

  • 2GB RAM (16GB Model)/ 3GB RAM (32GB Model)

  • 16MP rear camera with 0.1s ultra-fast PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), 5 MP front camera
  • 4,050mAh battery

Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 will be available in two storage variants 16GB storage/2GB RAM for INR 9,999 and 32GB storage/3GB RAM for INR 11,999. The device will sell in the old flash sale model exclusively on Mi.com and Amazon.in and will be available in Silver, Gray and Gold colors variants. The first flash sale starts at 2pm on 9th March 2016.

Being in the phablet category, we believe Xiaomi have all the specs done right to rule this segment. The competitors to this handset, Coolpad Note 3, Lenovo K4 Note and Honor 5X are somewhat same or a little higher. The only thing which we want Xiaomi to improve is it’s after sales support. It sucks real bad and this is the case with every Chinese smartphone manufacturer today in India so it would be a huge plus over others.
With the slick MIUI, Redmi Note 3 entry in the Indian market will definitely hold more liking by the public observing their interaction in the past, but our recommendations won’t be out until we test the device by ourselves.
