This is what Xiaomi has to say about faulty Mi A3 Android 11 Update | Affected users get free service

History repeats itself and after so many attempts, Xiaomi has failed to provide a stable Android 11 update for Mi A3 users. The recent update that started rolling out last week was bricking Xiaomi Mi A3 devices left and right.

After so much drama on social media and a lot of back and forth, finally, on 4th January 2021, Xiaomi announced that it would offer free service to the Mi A3 users from the nearby service centers, even for devices whose warranty period has expired. According to the global Xiaomi community, a new version V12.0.3.0.RFQMIXM will be installed to solve the problem. However, the company has not said when it will resume the update of Android 11 for those who have not yet done so.

Here’s Xiaomi’s Official Statement

We are aware of the problem on some Mi A3 aircraft after the recent Android 11 update. We’ve been out of surgery ever since. We encourage users who encounter this problem to visit one of more than 2,000 service centers throughout the country where a free solution is offered without conditions (within or out of warranty period).

We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. As a brand that strives to offer the user the best, we will continuously improve our products and services.

Xiaomi has released a statement regarding the Mi A3 Android 11 OTA update, and says they are working to resolve the issue soon. See the full explanation below.

We have noticed that some Mi A3 users have issues with the latest Android 11 OTA update. Although our efforts have already been stopped, our teams are working to solve the problem as quickly as possible. The customer experience is of paramount importance to us and we regret any inconvenience. We will inform all users about the next steps.

Xiaomi launched the Mi A3, the company’s latest Android One aircraft, in India as part of the Android One program as early as August 2019. In accordance with the policy, the smartphone is eligible for the Android 11 update. A few hours ago, the airline started deploying the Android 11 update for the Mi A3 in India. It doesn’t seem to be going well, because there are many complaints that the device doesn’t start after the update.

Users have registered their complaints about this via social media. Look at some of the posts,

The company has not confirmed the problem and has not advised users to update. At the time of writing this message we checked our device and the update was still available on the device.

This is not the first time Mi A3 users have experienced problems after the system update. Last July, the company released an update for the smartphone that affected the device’s dual-simulation functionality. However, the company quickly addressed the problem and released an update that fixed the problem.

Earlier this year the smartphone received an Android 10 update in February, but this caused some problems, so the company had to postpone the update a few days later. The company later released an update for Android 10 with bugfixes in April.

At this point, we advise not to update their devices until the company finds the root cause leading to the lockout, as you will not be able to access the bootloader and respond when you connect the device to your PC.
