UMANG – One app to access all e-governance services launched in India

Honorable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi today launched a new application called as UMANG at the Global Conference on Cyber Space 2017. UMANG which stands for Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance was announced last year by our PM as a part of Digital India Initiative by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) which aims at providing a central hub to all e-governance services.

UMANG tries to eradicate the complexities in the whole government process. Opting for a ‘mobile-first’ approach the application bridges different departments even those without a mobile app yet to Indian citizens for easy service access.

UMANG app has seamless integration with services such as Aadhaar, DigiLocker, Rapid Assessment System, Bharat & HP Gas and Bharat Bill Payment System. The app has been launched with the provisions of 43 government departments that grants access to 150+ services and is targeted to reach 200 departments granting access to 1200+ services by December 2019.

Partnering with Spice Digital for application design and development, UMANG is now available in 12 regional languages in addition to English. It has been developed carefully keeping the target audience in mind so that it can be made accessible for everyone with a smartphone.

The app supports major services like EPFO, PAN, NPS, CBSE, Bharat Gas, DigiLocker, Passport, GST, HP, Bharat & Indane Gas, ePathshala, Income Tax, Digi Sevak, Crop Insurance and more. Users can link their Aadhar card with the app after which one can effectively pay taxes, apply or renew passports, book gas, insure crops, access & alter pension account details, access e-books, and even check CBSE exam results.

The app is available to download on Android, and iOS. Users can also give missed call on +91-97183-97183 to get the app download link on your number.
