Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo collaborate to create a Cross-Band File-transfer Service

Right since the Golden age of Android era, different apps have been published in the Play Store, but the file-sharing system was still done through Bluetooth until Flash Transfer, a quick file-sharing app was available in Play Store. Later came the Shareit from Lenovo which got huge attention and took sharing files on Android to the next level. Although not as good as Airdrop from Apple, these file-sharing applications for Android were good enough for sharing files across Android devices. Talking about such eco-system, Android is yet to have a full-platform sharing service like Airdrop. In the likes of it, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo have come to a deal to make a cross-band file-transfer service.

From what the sources say, all the smartphones from these three brands will soon be able to share multiple files with formats such as photos, videos, songs, documents, etc at up to 20 MBps without the necessity of any third-party app. Although the three companies have found this alliance, other smartphone makers have also been invited to join the alliance to create

Regarding the cross-band file-transfer service announcement, the Weibo accounts of Xiaomi’s MIUI, Oppo’s ColorOS, and Vivo’s Funtouch OS have posted what seems to be like a simulation of the service along with its capabilities and mentioned features. About the functioning, the service is said to be relying on Bluetooth connectivity and will have high transfer rates at which data can be shared seamlessly.

As far as the roll-out of this service is concerned, there is no official word whether it will roll out as an OTA update and if it will come pre-installed on the upcoming devices. Also, the name of the service is yet to be disclosed, however, the beta rolling is said to expected by the end of August.
